Genre-bending South Korean band N.Flying are set to embark on their US tour throughout August. Kicking off on August 20 at NY Palladium Times Square, New York, the band will make stops at Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and San Francisco before wrapping at Seattle in September.
Known for their captivating blend rap, pop, and live instrumentation, the band – comprising of Lee Seunghyub, Cha Hun, Kim Jaehyun, Hwe Seung and Seo Dong Sung – are set to stages across the US alight with their powerful performances and emotional storytelling abilities.
With a decade of crafting enchanting soundscapes with their unique genre-bending signature behind them, the quintet have consistently evolved bringing fresh sonic experiences and showcasing their musical depth with each new release.
A powerhouse act that continues to stand out as one of Korea's most compelling modern bands, N.Flying talks to Earmilk about what we to expect from their upcoming tour, genres they'd like to experiment with and how they've grown over the years.

You’re set to embark on a US tour in August, what can fans expect from you and how’s preparation for it going?

Jae Hyun: I am preparing well for the tour. It's been a while since I've been to the U.S, so I'm working hard to feel the energy and memories of that time again.

Cha Hun: This will be our second North America tour after the Do What You Want Tour, so we're preparing with full excitement and anticipation.

Dong Sung: I think I can say that the tour preparation is going smoothly. For something to anticipate, since our new album out, please look forward to it

Hwe Seung: Despite having the thought of it, quite a long time has passed since I came back altogether as a team. I want to show the best in performance

Seung Hyub: First off, I hope you look forward to our live performance. When we first planned our tour in the U.S, I wanted to promise to visit every year and make good memories by delivering our energy. The fact that we can finally go on a U.S tour with all 5 members is making me feel even more passionate and excited right now. For the U.S tour, rather than going for an emotional vibe, I’d like to focus more on having an exciting, high-energy live experience.

Over the years how would you say your sound has evolved and where do you see it going from here?

Hwe Seung: Recently, our second album was released, and we've been putting our story in the album for a long time, and I think the colour of N.Flying was expressed as much as we prepared for a long time this time. I'm curious about the stories we will make with our fans in the future.

Cha Hun: I think we've matured over time, and we're able to sound more refined than we did when we were younger.

Seung Hyub: Over the past few years, we’ve been trying to create music that feels truer to who we are—more mature, with a stronger focus on the message, while still keeping it accessible to a wider audience. As for where we’re headed next, I hope you’ll continue to follow my journey and cheer me on.

Aside from live performances and of course meeting your fans, what would you say is your favorite part of touring?

Jae Hyun: I love experiencing the unique energy and culture of each country. Every country has its own kind of energy and a different way of expressing it. I want to fully embrace and absorb all those energies. And to do that, I guess I need to grow into a bigger person myself.

Cha Hun: Taking a rest, I’d say. Since we’re usually so busy while on tour, I think I will take care of my condition better than usual.

Dong Sung: Aside from live performances and meeting our fans, my favourite part is eating and sightseeing. I like to eat famous local foods and feel the vibe of each city

Hwe Seung: I like enjoying the beautiful scenery of different cities

Seung Hyub: I guess it's the new culture and the local food. Also, the local gym! I feel like I absorb a lot of the energy from each place we visit, and that energy really influences the vibe of our live performances. It’s such an exciting experience.

In terms of touring, are there any parts of the world you’re particularly interested in performing in at some point in the future?

Jae Hyun: Honestly, I don’t think I can choose just one place. But I would love to perform anywhere, even if there’s only one N.Fia there.

Cha Hun: I don’t have a specific place in mind, but I’d love to invite my role models, Slash and Mark Tremonti!

Dong Sung: I am just grateful for the fact that I am able to meet N.Fia through the tour for a long time

Hwe Seung: I want to visit all the places that I haven't been to before and the places that I promised to be back

Seung Hyub: I'm really curious about outdoor festivals in the US. The outdoor performances of the pop stars I've seen were so passionate.

You’ve gained a reputation for your genre-bending sound, if there was any specific genre that you haven’t tried yet you could experiment with what would it be and why?

Jae Hyun: As a drummer, I’d like to try songs with more electronic sounds. But! I want to be the one playing those sounds myself using a pad. Since drums are an analog instrument, I’m interested in trying out performances that incorporate some electronic elements.

Dong Sung: Personally, I like listening to jazz so if possible, I want to try something jazzier someday

Seung Hyub: Since I like bass, I want to try a lot of genres with strong bass lines.

What would you say has been a career highlight for the band and what’s on your bucket list for the future?

Jae Hyun: I think the most memorable moment in our band career is May 20, 2015 — the day N. Flying officially began. That was the start of our journey as a band, and it’s how we got to meet our N.Fias. One thing on my bucket list is to perform again at the venue where we had our very first show.

Cha Hun: Recently, the &CON4: FULL CIRCLE in Seoul left a beautiful memory for me. Going forward, I hope we can become a band that can fill the Gocheok Dome one day.

Dong Sung: We are on a world tour this time, and it is my bucket list to be on a team that goes on a world tour every time, not just as a one-time thing, and also to perform at the KSPO DOME one day

Hwe Seung: The members performed at the Olympic Hall, the biggest venue since they were discharged from the military. I can't forget the eyes of the fans I've met in years. I want to take this momentum and go to a bigger stage in the future

Seung Hyub: Our 2nd Album was out with the song called Everlasting, and N.Fia gifted us the 1st place on a Korean music show. I was so touched by the N.Fia’s faces at that moment.

For anyone who might just be discovering your music, how would you describe N.Flying in 3 words?

Jae Hyun: I think of youth, eternity, and romance

Cha Hun: Youth, eternity, love

Dong Sung: I’d go with youth, energy, and romance

Hwe Seung: Let’s be together

Seung Hyub: Romance, Moment, Eternity
