Los Angeles via New York musical duo Fake Dad have returned with a gritty indie rock 7 song EP. Called Holly Wholesome and the Slut Machine, the EP is a collection of stories by the band of irresistible and crazy characters in their made-up world. Fake Dad are touring alongside their new music, marking an important new chapter for the risers.

Holly Wholesome and the Slut Machine is a transformative release filled with narratives of angry, burger-flipping clowns, star-crossed knights, and masked sleep paralysis demons. In the process of creating the EP, the band has found themselves in more ways than one, unpacking their own values, stories, sexuality and more. Leading single "Crybaby" is a punk-fueled indie rock banger all about someone who is obsessed with attention seeking behavior and wanting fame. Andrea of the band sings, "Except they all think I"m crazy / Yeah it's all in my head / This beautiful life / In the Hollywood stars/ I'll never attain it / No I'll never attain it / At least I can try / And if not I'll cry." Then there is "WANTO" an upbeat pop rock track that highlights Andrea's commanding vocal delivery. Bright guitars, a gang vocal chorus and thumping basslines creates a thrilling musical fusion. "ON/OFF" tackles the overstimulation and dopamine dependent society we live in. The grungy anthem is emotionally searing and relevant as Andrea sings "Scrolling on the Internet / No real thought running through my head." The EP ends with "Machinery", a daring and important rock song all about "the pressure for women in music to package themselves as consumable," shares Andrea. The track features a sing-a-long worthy chorus, jagged guitars and an unrelenting rhythm section as it marks the perfect conclusion to the 7 song masterpiece. Overall Holly Wholesome and the Slut Machine balances snarling punk energy with grunge-inflected melodies, and an alt-pop sensibility, creating an enthralling musical whirlwind.

Fake Dad is composed of Andrea de Varona (she/her) and Josh Ford (he/him). The two continue to be a trailblazing force in music, pushing the boundaries with every release. Take a listen to Holly Wholesome and the Slut Machine now and enjoy the ride!
