Intended to make you want to move, HARLEY GIRL’s latest single, "do it like that", is an energetic club-ready banger designed to get your heart racing. Infused with house and breakbeat influences, it captures the essence of artists like DJ ADHD and Mura Masa, blending attention-commanding vocal samples with a relentless bassline that you can't help but tap your feet to.
What makes this track even more compelling is its unconventional origin. HARLEY GIRL, the brainchild of Gold Coast producer Connor Grant (aka Akurei), has built his sound in stolen moments- quite literally. “Do it like that is the latest track I’m sharing from my 2018 Hyundai Kona. In all seriousness, my philosophy for this track, and all the stuff I'm working on, has been constraint- whether that be time, space, or both. Lately, I find the most exciting ideas come in the 15-minute windows on my laptop in my car between work, over the full days off in total solitude.”
That sense of urgency and spontaneity pulses through "do it like that". The track is minimal yet infectious, balancing interesting drum patterns with a groove that is nothing short of addictive. As HARLEY GIRL puts it, “I love tracks that make you wanna bounce, and I feel like this one really does.” He’s right- this is a track that doesn’t just ask you to dance; it practically dares you to sit still.
With an EP on the horizon and fans eagerly anticipating new music, "do it like that" proves HARLEY GIRL is carving out a space in the club scene with an organic, instinctive approach to dance music.
