Haitian and Florida raised artist and producer Aniquila has just shared her latest single. Called "Chasing", the song is the second single of the year following "Surreal" shared in January.
With "Chasing", Aniquila writes a song all about the timeless narrative of unrequited love. We can't control how other people feel about us and if someone makes it clear they are not interested, the more you chase the more you just hurt yourself with the rejection. She sings, "When you leave me all torn and you say you will go / My heart is getting froze," finding pain in their dismissal. Musically, "Chasing" is a captivating sonic envelopment filled with dream-laced lush synthesizers and hazy vocals singing layered pop-laden melodies. Introspective guitars and cinematatic landscapes add to the song's allure. Aniquila creates a gorgeous genre-bending must-need anthem for the lonely and heartbroken.
Aniquila takes influence from her unique background and cultural heritage. As a child she was surrounded by kompa and bachata and incorporated those sounds with learning guitar to create her own unique musical style. Aniquila is not only a musician and singer-songwriter but also a producer and takes inspiration from Finneas O’Connell and his eccentric approach. With more music in the works, we can't wait to hear what is next from rising bedroom pop darling Aniquila.
