Musician and producer Mark Rae has unveiled "The Place I Call My Home," the debut single from his upcoming multimedia project, New Town Ghosts. Releasing April 11th, 2025, the project combines a novel and an accompanying album, New Town Ghosts – Songs from the Novel.
"The Place I Call My Home," released on January 17th, captures the project’s central themes of childhood friendship, nature, and the mysteries of growing up. The track blends infectious melodies, whimsical yet poignant lyrics, and inventive, danceable instrumentation to evoke the youthful imagery and emotional depth of the novel.
Recorded across the UK with over 40 world-class musicians, the song features strings, horns, choir vocals, and cinematic production, mixed by Erik Miles. It sets the tone for the album, combining rich soundscapes with storytelling that immerses listeners in a nostalgic and heartfelt journey. Rae brings his signature innovation to this single, creating a standalone piece that serves as the perfect gateway to the larger New Town Ghosts project.
