Indie pop-rock duo Sleigh Bells are making their return to the spotlight in an explosive way. The duo of singer Alexis Krauss and producer Derek Miller drops their earth-shattering punk rock surprise single, "Wanna Start A Band?" In their first piece of music in 3 years, Sleigh Bells shows just how masterful of their craft they are. The duo hasn't lost a single step over their absence but are more refined in their attack of music.
"Wanna Start A Band" is a return to their roots as the duo has been a staple in the indie rock genre since the early 2010s. Much like their pioneered hyper pop sound, the track follows in its crunchy tooth-aching sound. Sleigh Bells let it all hang out on this track and reminisce on their history and the promising future of the duo.
Leading up to the single's release, Krauss and Miller released a statement about the meaning of the question posed in the title.
"In 2008 while eating at a restaurant in Brooklyn with my mom, our server, Derek, wasted very little time asking me, essentially, "Wanna Start A Band?" Hard to believe that almost 17 years later we are still hyped and obsessively making records together. Derek started messing with the riff for this song around 2014 — it needed a lot of work but a spark was there. We had a band by then but didn't know how long it would last. For us, this song is a reminder of how we started but it's also the first part of a new story we want to tell — more on that very soon! We hope you will come along for the ride. Love, Alexis + Derek”
"Wanna Start A Band?" is a record many fans of Sleigh Bells will immediately recognize with its iconic hyperpop sound and burst of colorful lyrics. From the beginning to the end, the track is a nonstop pop fest with moments of pure joy and passion for the music. The track is set to kick off a massive year for Sleigh Bells with more singles planned along with a massive comeback U.S. tour. Sleigh Bells are back, let the pop genre rejoice.
