Ooberfuse and Lina Sleibi share a christmas message of hope in ‘Believe in Love’

In a call for the world to rediscover understanding, empathy, and compassion this Christmas, Ooberfuse teams up with Bethlehem artist Lina Sleibi for the new single “Believe in Love.” Emerging from the core of the Holy Land, where Jesus Christ was born more than two thousand years ago, this bridge-building co-creation speaks volumes of hope and oneness that are often out of reach during times of difficulty.

With no festive lights or decorations in Bethlehem, Lina Sleibi says, “Being an artist in Bethlehem is certainly more challenging but at the same time more meaningful. There are so many different challenges to live, feel and share each day. But however challenging these might be, nothing will ever silence the voice of love that speaks even in the darkness. The very spot where Jesus was born is in my little town of Bethlehem. Without the nourishment of love, this tiny acorn would not have grown into a tree with branches spreading throughout every continent.” A fusion of her impassioned vocals with the celestial timbres of Cherrie Anderson of Brooklyn-based outfit Ooberfuse weaves together a tapestry of sound that reflects the resilience of mankind.

The song, produced by Bethlehem’s John Handal of RJ Music, is steeped in history and reverence. Made in the shadow of the Church of the Nativity, it feels the weight of its holy birthplace even as it reaches an international audience hungering for connection. “This project is testament of Bethlehem’s eternal legacy,” Handal tells me. “With music we can cross the distance and make the message of love heard to the world.”

Ooberfuse’s Hal St John explains, “Working alongside Lina and visiting Bethlehem for ourselves has made us witness to the redemptive power of love.” Anderson elaborates on that sentiment, succinctly stating the song's essence: “Love born in our hearts quiets the chaos and lays a way forward.”

“Believe in Love” is a reminder that, even during turmoil, the spirit of Christmas can reign supreme. With its harmonies and heartfelt lyrics, this powerful release illuminates the way for a season dedicated to compassion and unity.
