NY city-born singer/songwriter Susie McCollum traverses the world of alternative pop/jazz with a unique twist that taps into her multi-discipline background. Her latest self-written release "You're In My Head" is a profound look at the meaning of being in love with someone and the painful emotions that come with missing them. The background has a tinge of jazz with contemporary pop elements blended seamlessly, from the looming guitar riffs, sparse but punchy rhythm section, and overall solemn aesthetic. As the title says, it captures that feeling where one can't get that person out of one's head and the constant thought of them keeps increasing.
The visual concept employs several motifs that are aligned with the theme, from being the center of attention in a room to the feelings of loneliness even when surrounded by others. The performance shots are brilliant too and how they subtly reinforce the theme is one for the books.
"You're In My Head" is taken from her debut EP Tempt My Fate which was released earlier this year.
Susie's artistic journey is as diverse as her sound. From studying opera, musical theatre, jazz, and folk.
