Glasgow-hailing indie-rock five-piece, The Rooks, have released their highly anticipated second single, “Renegade.” Following the success of their debut, “Lay Me Down,” this track showcases the band’s evolving sound with its infectious blend of tight bass, punchy drums, and rich guitar layers.
Produced by Grammy Award-winning Jim Lowe, known for his work with Stereophonics and Taylor Swift, “Renegade” transitions from introspective verses to a vibrant, anthemic chorus, culminating in a climactic finale. Lyrically, the song delves into themes of escape and self-reflection. Band members Matthew McFadyen and Ross Gardiner describe it as a need to leave something behind—not necessarily seeking something new, but rather finding a way to distance oneself from internal struggles.
Having established themselves as one of Scotland’s most exciting live acts, The Rooks have sold out Glasgow’s iconic King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut and supported artists like Luke La Volpe. The release coincides with their performance opening for Blossoms at the O2 Academy and their upcoming UK tour with Louis Berry.
