Oslo-born singer/songwriter JOA unveils her new single "Let Go," a heartfelt and reflective tune that blends the rawness of folk with the richness of contemporary pop. Built on a slick acoustic guitar riff with soft keys and minimal rhythms, the track sees JOA coming to terms with a past love and the swirling emotions that are left scattered in her head. Armed with her commanding vocal tone, soothing melodic runs, and candid lyrics like "Tell myself it's for the better to let go, I know/And time will show/if I am better off alone/When you're gone are you even gonna miss me? One day I'll look back at you like history." JOA's vocals do shine through the mix which preserved her original live recordings and garnished them with an extra oomph and crispness amplifying the integrity of and imperfections of the recording.
JOA adds the reason she is embracing this type of raw, acoustic sound is part of her constant progression and moving away from the bright pop sounds in her teens. She is grown and her world experiences are different allowing her to confidently let go and wave goodbye to the teen years which have made up the bulk of her journey so far.
"Let Go" is the first track from her forthcoming debut EP, set for release at the start of 2025.
At 20 years old, this Oslo-born artist has honed her skills since her early teens, blending her theatrical background with a talent for crafting relatable, heartfelt songs.
