SOPHIE will always be "My Forever"

Trailblazing music producer SOPHIE's "My Forever" features longtime collaborator Cecile Believe on a track that fans have eagerly awaited since her untimely passing. Completed by her brother, Benny Long, the track reflects the unique sonic world SOPHIE crafted throughout her career. Having inspired and collaborated with countless artists like Charli xcx, Arca, and Shygirl, SOPHIE transformed the electronic music landscape, expanding pop music into what it is today.

With a beat reminiscent of tapping fingerpads and jagged, warp-y synths, "My Forever" feels like a hidden gem lost in a jukebox, layered with fluttering trap trills. The production embodies a lingering nostalgic vision through a futuristic eye, blending tactile fuzziness with an electrically blue atmosphere. Expressed in its core, "My Forever" longs for a lost lover, forever suspended in memory: "I want to go back to forever / you'll always be my forever."

Unlike SOPHIE's characteristic vocal manipulation—often distorted, layered, or abstract—Believe’s raw voice takes the limelight, contributing to the ambiance and subdued style of "My Forever." Earlier unreleased versions of "My Forever" closely align with SOPHIE's signature punchy song structure, making the album version feel more stripped back. This emptiness captures the song's themes of yearning and loss, allowing us to remember SOPHIE and her legacy in our hearts forever.

SOPHIE's self-titled posthumous album releases on September 27, 2024. Stream "My Forever" and previously released singles on all DSP's.
