Award-winning Nigerian artist, producer, and songwriter Pheelz is riding the wave of his contribution/production to Usher’s Coming Home album with Pheelz Good II to mark the culmination of his critically acclaimed ‘Pheelz Good’ trilogy series. A series that began last February. The new EP from Pheelz offers an intimate and unfiltered reflection of the artist’s true self. The 5 track body of work sees him fusing afrobeats with elements of R&B, soul, and hip-hop with heartfelt songwriting that tracks his journey and reflections.
Each track on the EP offers audiences a glimpse into his life and tells unique stories that range from love and relationships to personal struggles and triumphs. From the bouncy flirtatious vibes of the afrobeat-infused opener "FEVER," featuring fellow Nigerian singer Niniola, the duo delivers a thrilling exploration into blossoming love and that unexplainable feeling of that special someone who takes your breath away. Followed by "MAJO", a smooth dance jam inspired by Fuji.
The track is a clarion call for listeners to dance their sorrows away and borrows several sonic elements from the Afro-Juju genre, which incorporates Yoruba chants and the energy of Nigeria’s vibrant ‘Owambe’ parties. The fun continues but on a slower note on "KAMIKAZE," where Pheelz looks within for solace and happiness. Written during a time of overwhelming negativity around him, the personal song reflects Pheelz’s battles with the never-ending stress and concern for his loved ones.
The project closes out with "YEYE" and "ROTATE," two tracks that showcase Pheelz's versatility as a producer and songwriter. The former has South African musical elements and it talks about the excitement and vulnerability of romance, with its passionate serenade pleading for enduring love while acknowledging the fear of heartbreak while the latter turns down the tempo with a sublime texture and rich guitar licks underpinned by Pheelz's sultry vocal runs which implores lovers everywhere to lose themselves in the moment and seize the day.
