Boston based musician, creator and singer-songwriter Photocomfort has just shared her latest single and music video. Called “Roll”, the track is the first musical release from the acclaimed artist in over five years and it marks an impressive musical moment.
With “Roll”, Photocomfort discusses an important narrative and one that is often not talked about. The song details platonic love and evolution in friendships. She tells the story of how important it is to love someone truly, and give them space and flexibility, even if it means they let go of the connection between the two of you. Lyrics showing this theme include, “Run away from me now / Run away and close your eyes / There will be a time to talk / But it will not be tonight.” Musically, “Roll” entices with sparkly vintage synths, seductive beats and twangy guitar riffs. Photocomfort’s stunning vocal tone and charismatic delivery is a hallmark of this unique sonic offering. In the accompanying music video, the artist creates a three minute thriller with the video beginning with her holding a knife but soon running through her apartment with scissors cutting another person’s hair that looks exactly like her. What happens at the end the viewer does not know as one of the them falls to the floor. The video centers on the theme of transformation, mirroring the message of the song.
