Indie folk sister duo Charm of Finches have shared the focus track off of upcoming album Marlinchen In The Snow. Called "If You Know Me", the song features the vocals of Sam Bentley of The Paper Kites. The stunning duet is a highlight off of their fourth full length musical collection.
With "If You Know Me", Charm of Finches write a song all about trying to navigate the deep complexities of communication in a relationship. The track specifically talks about the initial stages and how someone's facial reactions aren't necessarily who they are inside. Lyrics including, "And my face it seems to say / To anyone that comes my way / Get the hell away from me / Or I'll pin you down / But if you know me / You know that I like to talk / That I like to read your thoughts / I'll hold you if that's what you want from me tonight," show how looks can be deceiving and that there is a deep emotional tenderness under the surface. Musically, "If You Know Me" is absolutely breathtaking. The vocals are angelic, stunning and warm with Charm of Finches impressing on every note. The juxtaposition and addition of Sam Bentley's deeper vocal hue only adds to the single, making for a deeply emotional and warmhearted song. Other highlights include the track's downtempo moody sonics complete with hushed synths and lush string arrangements. The music video shows the ladies at the studio and enjoying the winter wonderland outside.
Charm of Finches are composed of Australian born and bred sisters Mabel and Ivy Windred-Wornes. The duo have won the Australian Folk Music Awards for Best Folk Album and Music Victoria Best Contemporary Folk Act and their music has been nominated twice for the prestigious Australian Music Prize. With a knack for creating music full of wonder and heart, Charm of Finches are one of the most exciting bands to come out of Australia in years.
