German-based duo, Amistat have lived a life that has taken them from Italy to Melbourne and back to Europe. The twin brothers, who are born to Czech parents, have soaked up the sounds and sights in every culture they experienced, resulting in a sound that is richly infused with a diverse blend of influences. Their latest EP, a moment in the sun, is demonstrative of just that. The six-track alternative folk release radiates with authenticity, both instrumentally and thematically, as we hear the brothers open up about some of their deepest struggles. Jan Prasil shares, “The new EP is about the struggles with personal life, private life, and mental health that my brother and I have been going through over the last two years.” Jan continues, “We’re showing everyone it’s totally normal to struggle, but there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. On social media, you only paint an amazing picture of the great times. However, life isn’t always that way. We’re acknowledging every aspect of existence—and still enjoying it.”
