Eclectic dark pop singer-songwriter Brimheim keeps pushing her musical boundaries with every release and on her new single "Normies", she strays from the norm once again. The production is dark, haunting and cinematic while her airy vocal performance oozes pure sultriness from start to finish. Here, she displays a willingness to do whatever it takes to please a lover and reflects on certain actions that can only be done out of being madly in love and not thinking with a clear mind. Overall, the track has a whimsical theme that anyone who has been in similar situations can relate to and lines like " I'm checking myself out in the rearview / Drivin' up to your house (Dried my tears right off)/I've packed my lipgloss and a tripod / Hope I look good enough" bring the swirling emotions to the forefront.
The visuals make use of several motifs and set pieces that relate to the overall theme of the song. Here we follow the singer as she embraces her alien lover before the set changes and things move like pieces on the chessboard.
“Normies” is the third single from Brimheim’s second album, RATKING, set for release March 22nd via Tambourhinoceros (Lucky Lo, Rangleklods, School of X, Palace Winter). Following the release, Brimheim will embark on a 9 stop European tour as well as a 10-stop Danish leg in the fall including her biggest headliner to date at Store Vega.
