After teasing us with the singles "if I was a boy ;)” and “Put It Down” F/ Mannywellz , multi-faceted singer-songwriter Adanna Duru returns with her first single for 2024 titled "The Way". The track is a mellow pop ballad that showcases Adanna's vocal range and rich songwriting that centres on the intricacies of being in love and the effects of past trauma. Over the smooth guitar arrangement, she reflects on her flaws with lines like "quit just saying shit that u dont mean you talk to me like im five sometimes you tend to know that i lie sometimes because i grew up with too much pride why is love so hard to recognize" and proceeds to be reassured by her partner to show her the way.
"The Way" is the final single from her new project NAPPY HOUR II which is out via MNRK. The project is an exploration into self-discovery and aims to capture the singer's unique style and love for different genres beyond what people may have boxed her in. She adds “I’m thrilled that I get to release songs about joy, love, and happiness,“ But more importantly, I get to release songs about a Black girl doing whatever she wants"
NAPPY HOUR II is Adanna’s follow-up to her previous EP, NAPPY HOUR, which was released in March of 2023 and has garnered well over 35M streams across all digital platforms.
