Rising pop songwriter Nastiya Kai shares dark and hypnotic single “Bury Me,” unfolding a vulnerable tale on blaming yourself for things that others responsible for. With a minimal ambient instrumentation that brings ballad notes with a country-tinged chorus, the track balances tender folky acoustic guitar with shadows of electronic to make for a genre-bending sonic experience.
With lyrics poignantly exploring themes of misplaced guilt, inner turmoil and blame framed by Kai’s haunting but powerful vocals, the track gives us a glimpse of her forthcoming debut album. Speaking of the track, Kai says, “When someone is clearly out there to hurt you but you keep asking yourself if there’s anything you did wrong and what can you do to fix it even when you’re already underground as it is. I built it in a way where it takes you through this emotional rollercoaster.”
Originally from Moscow and now based between Moscow, Paris, LA and New York, self-taught musician Kai finds comfort and solace in the sonic worlds that she builds as she continues to carve a space for herself in the world of pop as an emerging talent.
