Amsterdam's indie rock sensation LOUPE have revealed their brand new single 'Tested Waters', their first release since their debut album, 'Do You Ever Wonder What Comes Next?,' was released via Excelsior Records in 2023. Crafted with producer Arne van Petegem and mixed by Beau Sorenson, the new single brings more of LOUPE's intricate yet effortlessly catchy soundscapes, now with the addition of new vocalist Nina Ouattara.
Emotional yet understated, the new single tells a story- 'It all began with a slammed door,' is Nina's poignant opening lyric, drawing the audience into her narrative. From the perspective of a teenage Nina, the song unravels the complexities of a relationship where both individuals constantly push each other's boundaries to the extreme.
The verse is crafted around a melancholic bass guitar melody, showcasing a trademark of bassist Lana's exquisite songwriting. The chorus, adorned with dark and brooding lyrics, finds balance in the infectious and memorable vocal hook, complemented by a loose, syncopated groove in the rhythm section. Through "Tested Waters," Loupe has undergone a reinvention, presenting a more determined and powerful sound than ever before.
LOUPE are also about to embark on their UK headline tour, taking them to new audiences across the waters into the UK.
