Electronic dance-rock duo Boombox release latest album 'Dangerous Waters'

After launching their latest nationwide tour in September, along with the release of a penultimate single “Buenas Noches”, electronic-dance-rock duo BoomBox have delivered their full body of work 'Dangerous Waters'.

'Dangerous Waters' effortlessly explores soundscapes between dancefloor-driven dynamicism and luxurious lean-back lounge chillers. Across the albums 10 tracks we see Boombox escalate their intentions and diversify their sound palette in this thoroughly enjoyable record.

Lead-track "Black Linens" opens the album with a smoky, subtle bass line that when paired with the punchy percussion forms a danceable groove that would make the Talking Heads proud. “Buenas Noches” builds on this formula, with even thicker drums and floating vocals that recalls The Gorillaz best work. “Taut Thriller” hits a catchy retro electronic groove, led by a rumbling, gritty synth bass and second single “Searching” doubles down on all the of the chill aspects of the album, delivering a refreshing, classic-sounding summertime jam. The repeated lyric “I had to go searching for the feeling” is the perfect lyrical companion to the smooth, almost jazzy track.

Sharing on the album, Boombox says, "'Dangerous Waters' is the first album that the two of us as brothers have made together (Zion and Kinsman). Its sounds are derived from both digital and analog, and we feel it’s a further refinement of the BoomBox sound.”

Founded in Muscle Shoals, AL in 2004 by singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Zion Rock Godchaux, BoomBox has grown and evolved alongside loyal fans across the globe. They’ve developed a signature groove rooted in a back-beat-driven style, wrapped around smooth vocals and original, thoughtful lyrics. Their songs pull from a wide range of genres to cultivate a fusion of music that appeals to a broad audience.

BoomBox' live shows are characterized by a mixture of drum machine and live-mixed computer beats laid down by Kinsman MacKay, Godchaux’s brother, which provides the perfect foundation for Godchaux’s electric guitar riffs and soulful vocals. In addition to touring with their live sets, the brothers can be found dropping down-n-dirty DJ sets at special club and festival appearances.
