Analine, a French independent music artist based in Grenoble, takes listeners on a captivating sonic journey with his latest two-part Electro EP this doesn't add up. Helmed by composer and producer Nihil Sperantes, the project is versatile, featuring both female and male vocalists, showcasing their electro-pop prowess.
The EP's first half features tracks like, "Straight To The Point", "Le goût du fantôme" and "La steppe", which seamlessly blend mainstream elements with a touch of the eerie. "Straight To The Point" is a sonic clash of high and low notes, creating an intriguing tension. "Le goût du fantôme" captivates with its simplicity, crafting a mesmerising melody through modulations and percussion.
The EP's latter half presents "Biscuits", "Milk" and "And Chocolate", with interconnected themes. Originally one composition, it was elegantly split into three parts. "Milk" and "And Chocolate" straddle the realms of Electronica and piano, offering a treat for lovers of both genres.
Analine's experimental nature shines through, drawing inspiration from diverse influences like Billie Eilish, Rüfüs Du Sol, and Serge Gainsbourg. This EP showcases their openness to sonic exploration and mastery of Electro, delivering a distinctive musical experience.
“‘This doesn’t add up’ is a 6 track EP without any lyrics, at the crossroads of Electronica and Minimal House but it's quite difficult to label our work. With this EP, we really tried to explore a universe of sounds and rhythms in different Electro music styles. To our mind, this EP is a journey in an Electro and melodic world.”
