Indie and dream-pop artist, Mikalyn is known for her storytelling lyrics, as she captivates listeners with her intriguing tales that touch on the experiences of young adulthood. This time, her new single “Prisoner” sees the artist delving into relationship struggles, as she admits to feeling trapped in something which she knows is not good for her.

Mikalyn shares, “You know it’s not right for you, you know it’s toxic, but both you and the other person can’t seem to ever really leave for good. It touches on bad habits in relationships, and how sometimes staying with someone that is wrong for you is like putting a bandaid on a bullet hole. You might feel better or less lonely when you’re with them, but it’s a temporary fix before you’re reminded that they’re not helping you grow in any way.”

“Prisoner” evokes a celestial quality, as the artist whisks us away into her transcendent world. Hauntingly beautiful vocals set the tone for the track, while shimmering synths and layered texture and harmonies create a melancholy, yet totally addictive soundscape, that will keep you coming back for more.
