Experimental multimedia artist, musician, and producer L Twills unravels the first glimpse of her anticipated multimedia double album [After Her Destruction] with new track “Illusion II,” a dark yet arty electronic anthem capturing being confronted by the false idea of love.
Built on distorted drums and granulated guzheng sounds that wrap around vivid vocals, the track unfolds a narrative of the ‘Girl’ facing emotional dependency and being on the cusp of disillusionment. Liberating and haunting all at once, the production gives a peek into the sprawling journey of epiphanies that lay ahead of both the ‘Girl’ and us on [After Her Destruction].
Speaking of the track, L Twills says, “The track marks a turning point in Girl’s journey through her mind. Illusions in general, I think, play a key role in the psychic structure of humans. I have the impression that mostly, they are connected to a certain desire that is in some way deceived. Sometimes this desire cannot be controlled or understood so I think an illusion could protect oneself from such a desire for a certain amount of time, but it can also become harmful if this deceived desire is not confronted.”
With an interpretative feel that allows listeners to take away whatever sound and feeling they want from her craft, the upcoming album is set to be a “cybernetic sci-fi opera,” filled with personal and universal experiences – with this latest offering being an alluring step.
