Lapel is the musical brainchild spearheaded by San Francisco singer-songwriter and musician Debbie Neigher, whose musical work stretches across decades. From touring with Demi Lovato and Marina, Grammy-winner Daya, and indie darlings Suki Waterhouse and Ezra Furman in addition to cultivating her project Lapel. Her new release "Break My Heart" ushers in something refreshing and different for the accomplished artist and sees her collaborating with Beau Sorenson who co-produced the track with Debbie herself. The production is focused and sharply crafted to the tee. The 80s-styled retro-wave-pop sounds are magnificent and Debbie's vocal arrangement and texture are reminiscent of T'Pau and Belinda Carlisle.
"Break My Heart" sure hits the mark and the premise which dwells on loving someone to the fullest without holding back is indicative of Debbie's growth and maturity. Lines like  "I get so tired (always been told, always been told)
Always being told my body’s not my own/ But in my desire (to shield myself, shield myself)/ To shield myself I built a different cell", Sum it all up and cements a new beginning as Lapel.

"Break My Heart" is the third single from Lapel's upcoming EP Brutal Joy, out this November

The moniker Lapel was inspired by a 1977 interview where Margaret Trudeau was asked about her marriage to the former Prime Minister of Canada and she replied thus "I want to be more than a rose in my husband's lapel,”. This response stuck in Debbie Neigher’s head ever since.
