Whammyboy, shows no sign of stopping in his bid to make 2023 the year that his "Space-Pop" makes the top of everyone's feel good playlists. Crisp production and a modern gleaming sheen to everything, Whammyboy’s latest single “Chop it” pumps with nostalgic disco guitars and drums. A nod to his childhood love of artists like Eiffel 65, Alice Deejay and Tiesto, Whammyboy’s vocals hold an energy and sass that gets you singing along. As Whammyboy’s 4th single, we are taken on a journey of 80s influence with a modern twist.
Quoted from BBC Radio 1 as a “really energetic, electro-pop track that talks from the heart" – this energy can be heard in the bouncing synths, groovy bassline and explosive drums. There's just about the right level of cheese, upbeat dance and pop throughout the track.
Whammyboy says, "It's called that basically because I'm chopping some sounds…it's very literal. The technique was inspired by Daft Punk, production-wise. But then it turned into something else, thanks to the offbeat bass from my childhood again. It really has me in its grip! With the lyrics, they're very kind of vague, expressionistic kind of lyrics."
