Emerging singer/songwriter leo. dives into a problematic relationship and its messy end on “pretend,” the second track to be taken off his upcoming album a new one.

Featuring a perfect balance between jolly instrumentals and melancholic lyricism, the track builds on his minimal signature sound to a layered sonic experience filled with elegant pianos, floating strings and ethereal choir-like harmonies to back up his lush vocals.

Tapping into a sense of uncertainty, the track reflects upon the chaos of staying friends after a break-up within emotive song writing that manages to sway between poetic and direct with ease.

The track is accompanied by a stunning music video featuring vibrant colours, framing the messiness and adventurous feel of the situation to unfold as an alluring piece of storytelling.

From both Portugal and the UK, leo. has channelled raw interpretations of life into his luscious music, allowing himself and others to gain strength by expressing moments of vulnerability. With his forthcoming project set to be all about processing trauma and learning to love again, this latest track gives us a glimpse of what’s to come.
