Curse Of Lono embodies artful storytelling on "Krieger" [Video]

UK-based artist Curse of Lono,  known for his distinctive style, has once again captured the hearts of listeners with his newest single, "Krieger". Drawing on his ability to reimagine past stories and events through artful storytelling, Curse of Lono delivers a song that carries the hazy melodies and soothing vocals reminiscent of his previous acclaimed album, 'People In Cars'. However, "Krieger" delves into deeper, more bruised ambience, reflecting the heavy narrative that lies within.

In this poignant track, Curse of Lono unveils the true and heartbreaking history of his grandfather's uncle, Heinrich Schwarz. Heinrich, a German Jew and decorated war hero of the First World War, was locally known as 'der Krieger', or 'The Warrior'. Despite his bravery and sacrifices for his country, he faced persecution during the rise of the Nazis.

Heinrich's defiance against the young Brown Shirts, who taunted him for being Jewish, led to frequent ambushes and beatings. However, he refused to be silenced, consistently standing up for his beliefs. In a moment of truth, Heinrich revealed the atrocities committed by the Nazis, resulting in his arrest, imprisonment, and the revocation of his business license. This left him and his wife, Karoline, penniless and destitute.

As a decorated war hero, Heinrich was one of the first Jews in the small town of Alzey to be deported by the Nazis. He was eventually sent to Dachau Concentration Camp, and later transferred to Buchenwald Concentration Camp, where he met his tragic end in 1940.

"Krieger" serves as a standalone single, highlighting the individualism and resilience of Heinrich Schwarz. It is a reminder that his powerful story of determination, outspokenness, and cruel fate should never be forgotten. The accompanying music video, created by artist Stefano Bertelli, further enhances the narrative, seamlessly merging the past with the present. From scenes of WWI trenches to Curse of Lono's performance in a modern-day bar, the video captures the essence of Heinrich's life and the contrasting realities of war.

Bertelli, the visionary behind the music video, shares his artistic approach, aiming to convey the song's deeper meaning through captivating visuals. His intention was to create a paper world that stays true to the real story of Heinrich, while portraying the stark contrast between the game of war and the actual horrors of war. By doing so, he seeks to leave a lasting impact on viewers' souls without resorting to explicit violence.

'Krieger' is a powerful testament to the strength of an individual against overwhelming adversity and the importance of preserving the memory of those who suffered. Curse of Lono's ability to breathe life into forgotten narratives and Stefano Bertelli's evocative visual representation make this release a poignant and unforgettable experience.

'Krieger' is now available via Submarine Cat Records, ensuring that Heinrich Schwarz's story will resonate with audiences and serve as a testament to the indomitable spirit of those who fought for their beliefs.
