Genre-bending rapper KOTA The Friend takes the high road on latest release, “Hope You Heal.” The upbeat track is written and produced by the artist, dropping just in time for Summer. The accompanying music video shows KOTA performing the song with a band in an intimate setting with “1-800-HOPE-U-HEAL” flashing on the screen.

“Hope You Heal” has an electronic pop-infused beat with rhythmic bass reminiscent of house music. In the simplistic visual, the rapper bobs his head to each verse wearing a white sweater and a matching bucket hat. He raps, “I don't be around like that / Stay calm, I ain't never loud like that / Fake love, I don't get down like that / That's why I don't be around like that.” He presents a refreshing and authentic charisma with each verse. His laid-back demeanor effortlessly complements the fun-loving vibe of the beat.

With his indie-inspired approach to rap, KOTA has cultivated a significant fanbase. He hopes to bring light and positive reinforcement to his listeners. He describes the single, “It's an upbeat record about not allowing people’s negativity to get the best of you.” The track is the perfect pick-me-up for all music lovers.

I am a digital marketer and publicist with a passion for A&R and music management. Originally from Southern California, I spent many years as a transplant in the Midwest in the St. Louis and Chicago areas. Now I am back in sunny Los Angeles. Besides my professional life, I enjoy music of all genres with a sweet spot for hip-hop/rap. I love my west coast rap and all things Tupac, Kendrick, Nipsey, etc. I am always down to go to a show, whether the venue be the smallest hole in the wall or the largest arena.
