NY-based veteran emcee Homeboy Sandman is never resting on his oars as he returns with his single "Human" which sees him repurposing the beat from Little Simz's "Gorilla". Since he released his latest full-length album, Still Champion late last year, he has been on tour and when he heard the track by Little Simz being spun by the DJ, he got inspired to write something to it the very next day. The beat produced by Inflo has an infectious bass-driven groove that lingers on like a mantra in the head and as expected Homeboy Sandman was in the zone. Lines like "It's been a while since I rapped about how good I rap/ I was really good at that/ Point me to a faker and I'll take him just to put him back" show he juxtaposes simple concepts into distinct engaging pieces with his unique flow and style.
The song also comes with a visual directed by Art Morera and shot in Nebraska while Homeboy was on tour. Art makes use of simple and seamless cuts that capture Homeboy Sandman's laidback demeanour while the use of sepia-toned visual effects adds a nostalgic and throwback/DIY feel to the video.
