New York born and bred singer/songwriter and pianist Olive Louise has just shared her latest single. Called "Moroccan Oranges", the indie pop story is the highlight from her three song EP 275 Kings Point Road, out now.
"Moroccan Oranges" tells the highly personal and autobiographical story of a trip Olive had with her father and sister to Morocco right after her mother's passing. Olive confides, "It’s about the dissonance I felt looking at my dad trying to hold it together and make us feel okay, knowing that even though we were seeing stunning views, and trying new foods, and were there together, we felt completely shattered." Lyrics including "the look you gave me / something was missing / our smiles hurt / photos to prove it / we've been broken everywhere," show the pain of grief and loss the family suffered juxtaposing the beautiful scenery of the voyage. "Moroccan Oranges" begins with emotive rich piano chords and playful sonics under Olive's signature intimate velvety vocals for an immersive listen.
Olive Louise is one of the most exciting songwriters to come out of New York in quite some time. With a knack for writing honest, emotional and infectious musical journeys, the classically trained singer is often compared to the likes of Florence Welch and Melanie Martinez. 2019 marked her first release with "Fool" and since then, Olive Louise has shared a series of important singles further catapulting herself as an indie pop artist on the rise.
