Rising singer/songwriter Jules Paymer has just unleashed their latest single and visuals. Called "The Daughter That My Mother Wanted", the track and video also features celebrated artist Miki Ratsula for an important narrative on self acceptance and gender identity.

"The Daughter That My Mother Wanted" is a song all about moving away from an old version of yourself, one that was a projection and an expectation and not who you truly are. Lyrics including, "she's pretty and always says please / there is not a bone in her body thats me / bet her parents tell her their so proud / I don't ever really hear that now," show just how painful it is to make the transition to embrace your true identity when society or family might not approve. For Jules Paymer and Miki Ratsula that story included coming out as non-binary and as part of the LGBTQ+ community. Sonically, "The Daughter That My Mother Wanted" features emotive piano chords underlying stunningly layered vocals for an enticing listen. An anthemic chorus full of fervor is the highlight for this unforgettable anthem all about self-acceptance in the face of adversity. The accompanying visuals show both artsits as early teens beginning to live their true selves, while getting criticism by their families for a heart wrenching and important watch.

Jules Paymer found their love for music and began writing songs at the young age of 9. Honing in on their songwriting craft in both Nashville and Los Angeles, the singer/songwriter is ready for their next musical chapter including releasing a five track EP later this year. Take a listen to "The Daughter That My Mother Wanted" now and add it to your favorite playlist.
