Bby Shea talks about being "Philophobic"

Born in the modern seaside town of Brighton, singer-songwriter Bby Shea found an outlet in R&B/soul/Hip-hop. She absorbed the sounds from luminaries such as Lauryn Hill, Sade and even well-respected underground rapper Jean Grea. These gave her the impetus to fuse her style with a blend of soothing melodic style to the edgy rap flows and she proceeded to embed herself in the Brighton music scene. She later moved to London to study music and further her career as an artist.

Her latest release titled "Philophobic" is a heartfelt tune that explores the fear of falling deeply in love and the many variables that could be beyond her control when it comes to developing feelings. Over a somber lofi/jazz soundscape made up of melancholic piano riffs, moody textures and soft drum breaks, Bby breaks down her experiences with the opposite gender and explores the touchy subject of dating in the modern world where it seems everything can be blurred. Far from being rueful, Bby's approach is more observatory and somewhat reflective as she gets candid and honest with her feelings. Armed with her mellow and soft vocals, she seamlessly switches from sultry melodic runs to laidback unhinged rapping and gives listeners the best of both worlds.
