Tungz offer up blissful debut album 'A Good Dream'

Bristol psych-pop quartet Tungz offer up blissful 11-track debut album A Good Dream, bringing to life a nostalgic yet fun-filled musical journey led by the falsetto vocal lines of  Nicky Green and Jamie Maier over intricate instrumentation.

Opening with the theme of heartbreak that stretches from the introspective “If,” to the uber-catchy pop track “80,000,” with its rhythmic chorus blending into groovy rap stylings as Green and Maier trade thoughtful lyrics back and forth in show of their versatility.

Balancing out the soulful yet gritty “Better,” with heartfelt soft sensibilities on “Is Cory OK?”, as well as the nostalgic funk and disco feel of melodic production “One Night,”  the four-piece brings vulnerability together with vibrance for a layered concoction that manages to tease out our deepest emotions while also urging us to let go and dance our troubles away.

Drawing influences from the likes of Jai Paul and Bombay Bicycle Club, Tungz has built up a synth-laden, funk-tinged, psych-pop artistry that has them quickly making a name for themselves, leaving us in anticipation of what’s to come next.
