Hard-nose lyricist Samad Savage first came on the scene with his explosive single "OMG" some 6 years ago and has since built his reputation as a versatile songwriter with more than a handful of collaborations and a body of work behind him. His latest effort is a 2 track release of "Drill Don't Kill" and "East Coast's Finest", two tracks that showcase Samad's unbridled talent as a rapper and writer.
"Drill Don't Kill" is an insightful record that dwells on the ongoing violence in music and the dynamics of how sometimes art imitates life and vice-versa. Backed by a rich guitar-laden backdrop, Samad reflects on the undeniable influence of music on the youth and its intersectionality with the streets. From lack of proper guidance, peer pressure and the need to be someone, Samad implores the youths not to go the wrong route for short glory as it is never rosy.

The second track we have is "East Coast's Finest" which is a collaboration between Samad and Prince Wiser who both bring their A-game to the microphone on this classic tune. The instrumental used is Jay-Z's "Brooklyn’s Finest" and I must add, Samad and Prince Wiser did justice to it and I can tell you that Biggie would be proud. The duo trade bars with such ferocity that listeners may have to rewind to catch some of the lines that might go over their heads and these two pack more than a handful. Samad stays playful with "My fade low cut, I must address I'm giving back/my girl heard your shxt and was like Chile, its giving whack, you thought you ate/ like 2 circles when it's attached" while throwing subtle shots at weak emcees while Prince Wiser states frankly "F*** a Uncle Sam/Word to my boy Doran/ I'm trying to give the game Covid, you better avoid the hands" as he reminds detractors that they better take caution.
The visual for the track was directed/edited by Samad while Filmtrip973 co-directed and worked on the cinematography.
