Justin Mattock has shared a new single called "Seventeen". Since joining the Canadian music scene in 2014, Justin has ventured into a variety of different genres and styles. Beginning as a producer for Vancouver-based pop-rock band Chase Your Words, his success with the band allowed him to move onto a national scale. Launching his own project shortly afterwards, Mattock built a discography of genre-bending offerings that played with elements of pop, country, and indie. His latest song is "Seventeen", a warm, nostalgic track packed with breezy, atmospheric melodies.
Delicate, nimble banjos begin the track on a lighter note, before expansive guitar layers underscore it to create a wide-ranging sound that contrasts neatly with Mattock's sharp, focused vocals. The understated presence of the first few moments gives way to an absolute blast of sound. The song cohesively incorporates both electric and acoustic guitar elements, giving the song a timeless quality. Mattock knows how to lean into walls of sound and then pull back for a more intimate feel, making "Seventeen" a refreshing, dynamic cut.
"Seventeen" finds the Canadian artist drawing in new elements and sounds for a balmy, catchy joint that toes the line between country, pop, singer-songwriter and more.
