Vancouver native and singer-songwriter, Kaleah Lee has released her third single, "Out of Body." The track follows this summer's "ode to journaling," in "Heavy Handed" and October's "Anchored." The former garnered traction on social media amassing over 8 million views and 65k followers on TikTok with the help of various covers she has performed and recorded herself. Those numbers have been accompanied by the critical praise from the likes of Taylor Swift, Maggie Rogers, Bon Iver, and Gracie Abrams. These artists give insight into what Kaleah has been crafting so far– diary entry-type stories told via ethereal, acoustic music providing an audience with front-row seats to her soul-searching.
Kaleah introduces "Out of Body" track by establishing its setting: "Confiding in rivers, telling my secrets to the moon." There's a subtle shift in production here as the backing instruments take up much more space than in previous tracks, offering a fuller, more immersive platform. Foggy forests and twilight set the scene for a story of self-discovery and inner turmoil alike. Plucky guitar tones form a restrained cascade as to not disrupt, allowing the vocals to take center stage. Vocalized sort-of-sighs work as a chorus but also echo the windy environment in which she leaves us.
"Out of Body" continues the momentum building to Lee's debut project, slated to release later this year Make sure to stay up to dat eon this project and other Kaleah Lee news via the linked social accounts below.
