Liam Mour's new EP Angel High marks a new phase in the Berlin-based producer's career, showcasing his delicate instinct for creating club-ready tracks. The EP, which is set to be released on January 20th 2022 via Ode To Youth, includes four tracks that showcase Mour's evolution as an artist, blending elements of ambient and electronica, dark wave and industrial, and jungle-laced beats.
The opening track, "Can't Get U Off My Mind," is a personal and emotive collaboration with singer Noraa, while "Angel High" blends dark wave and industrial into a massive and forceful soundscape. "Pure Puma" is an energetic and hypnotic jungle-laced gem, and "Alone" juxtaposes high-energy drums and bass with ethereal synth pads and Noraa's soulful vocals.
After showcasing a catalog that has explored a rather cinematic ambient and electronica sound in the first few years of his career the artist now changes his sonic perspective and returns with a serene hymn to round off the year, even though he was hit by a shocking event earlier this year. He writes, “During the summer months I had a heart attack as a result of a Myocarditis probably caused by a Covid infection. This completely changed my perspective and feeling for speed. It feels like time is running faster now and somehow I need to speed up my music to be able to align my emotions,“ states the artist. „Alone was the first track I made after the heart attack that has really calmed me down – even though it‘s at 140bpm“.
Mour has had a successful couple of years, with his releases receiving critical acclaim. His live performances, including a sold-out show at Funkhaus Berlin's renowned Studio 1, have also garnered praise for their creativity and enigmatic energy. Overall, "Angel High" is a promising next step in Liam Mour's career, and we look forward to hearing more from him in the future.
