Emily Brooks is a Los Angeles-based indie rock artist who writes her music in search of answers to great questions and universal truths. Her latest single “Back on the Ground” is a captivating, 90’s inspired rock anthem that pays homage to the decadent history of the Los Angeles music scene.

“Back on the Ground” combines an earthy, nostalgic guitar riff with Brooks’ eerie and echo-layered vocals for a collective energy that is darkly transcendent. Rich with dramatic imagery, Brooks sings, “Fallen angels cry in the night / destiny awaits you where there are golden gates of pearl.” With visuals directed by Dave Lang, the music video profiles Brooks as she strides down Hollywood's Walk of Fame, crossing over stars in snakeskin cowboy boots. Other figurines of religious statues and portraits paint the walls as Brooks offers her crescendo chorus in a black leather clad outfit creating vibrant contrast. “Back on the Ground” reveals the dark undertones inherently a part of the Los Angeles classic rock scene that linger like ghosts in Brooks’ modern interpretation.

Emily Brooks got her start in music while growing up as a poet and storyteller in Pennsylvania. After moving to Los Angeles to pursue the arts, her debut single “As I Am” gained shocking attention and was featured on God Friended Me on CBS television. “Back on the Ground” is Brooks’ latest release and she is one to watch in 2023.
