Richmond's Fly Anakin is back in business as he announces a new EP Skinemaxxx (Side A), out April 5th via Lex Records but in the interim, he shares the lead single "Blicky Bop" to give listeners and fans a taste of what he has in store. The record is produced by a fellow Mutant Academy affiliate Foisey who delivers a weird and nonconformist sound for the rapper to showcase his verbal prowess on. The sample chops have an '80s feel and it's somewhat reflective while the laidback drum groove strays from the usual with their stop-and-go arrangement. However, Fly Anakin doesn't miss a beat as he flows effortlessly over the off-kilter backdrop with his signature gruff vocals and stream-of-consciousness bars laced with a dash of insight. For example, " Thinking 'bout my uncle, he a fool, he left niggaz lonely/not to glorify but its the school, we rooted for Tony", here we see his harsh opinion on a relative while rooting for the anti-hero who inspired him to reach for newer heights.
The song also comes with a psychedelic visual shot by Jay Green that makes use of mind-warping effects and Anakin's laidback performance style.
Skinemaxxx (Side A) is the first installment of a two-part project in collaboration with Mutant Academy producer Foisey.
