Multi-talented Alt-Pop artist Natalie returns with a thoughtful new cut in the form of "Torment", an honest, dark offering, laced in metaphor and smokey, haunting vocals comparable to the likes of Billie Eilish except with a quick-tempo, danceable beat.
Self-defined as 'anti-genre', Natalie pulls from commercial, dance and alternative sounds, with the new track having a distinct influence from the latter before meandering into sharp drum machine beats and a bold, grooving bass line.
An independently produced, written and recorded track, Natalie elaborated on the process, sharing:
“I started by creating the bass line, it inspired me immediately. It felt haunting yet playful and I knew I wanted to match that energy lyrically. My favourite songs are the ones that can transition you from your bedroom to a night out.”
With the promise of more new music to come, Natalie is on a rapid rise, having received ample Spotify support and a series of shows supporting artists such as Trevor Daniel and Asian Doll. Her dark pop sound is masterfully crafted and we can only hope for more of the same.
