Acclaimed Australian electronic producer Golden Features (AKA Tom Stell) has linked up with the iconic Joe Goddard (Hot Chip) for a dark club-ready remix of his second single of the year ‘Vigil’, out now via Foreign Family Collective / Warner Music Australia.
A chest-thumping bass sets the stage for a kaleidoscope of various sounds clipped from Golden Feature's more ominous original version of "Vigil." The distant sounds that come swirling in and out of your peripherals are kept in as a slight ode to Golden Feature's unique ability to seamlessly inject whispers of sounds early on in his tracks that elude to something greater in the near distance. In this latest remix, Joe Goddard brilliantly takes that notable songwriting trait but steers the ship to darker waters and leads listeners down a more dramatic path—this can be spotted early through the deep vocal remix. The remix eventually erupts into an unapologetic assault of dark and ethereal techno. In Goddard's own words, “I took the hypnotic vocal as a cue to make something darker and more club focused than I normally make – lots of fun and looking forward to playing in the dark somewhere soon.”
