Sofi Gev looks upon the bright side of things in “Stay Awake”

Sofi Gev is the solo music project of American singer-songwriter and indie pop artist Hannah Lovelady. Sofi started honing her craft as a kid by writing made-up funny songs while also learning the piano and later on the French horn in middle school. The self-taught artist eventually honed her sense of melody by singing the words of recipes from cookbooks accompanied by her father playing acoustic guitar.

Sofi's newest release "Stay Awake" is a sombre and reflective record that bridges the seams of pop, and folk with contemporary musical styles. The music production is made up of rich, eclectic guitar arrangements, and warm strings, underpinned by laidback drum grooves and soft percussions. The record sees her dwell on the bright side of things and the lyrics are filled with hopeful and aspirational elements.

Sofi's distinct vocals do stand out and the way her melodies are layered has a retro and analog feel giving the track a nostalgic aura.
