Trilingual pop artist Timur drops "Sabotage" a daring sequel to her debut single [Video]

Malaysian popstar Timur just released her new single and video for "Sabotage". The trilingual artist, who is known for her stunning vocals and vivid colorful storytelling, records all of her songs in English, Malay and Mandarin to connect with her international audience.

In "Sabotage", Tiimur captures the angst and excitement that arises from an unsettled relationship. With bold, commanding vocals and expansive, stirring pop production that immerses the listener into her vast world of emotion, the song is a powerful reminder of the direct impact relationships have on our mental health. With lyrics "I can’t believe that you’re in for more / This thing we got, so toxic and insecure / Tell me what is this for," Timur narrates the struggle of being stuck in a place where she knows she can't stay, but she's not yet ready to let go.

In the music video for "Sabotage", Timur uses the setting of a high school to convey the guttural power dynamics, a competitive atmosphere, and the teenage butterflies that often follow a new and toxic relationship. While one side of the "Sabotage" music video is lighthearted and upbeat with electric cheerleader dance battles and notes being passed between budding crushes, the other side is much darker. We see vignettes of Timur on the back of a motorcycle with her leading love interest, leaving fingerprints on her glass of wine they share together, and eventually devolving into the video’s mysterious climax where Timur becomes a prime suspect in a police investigation. The video wraps with a cryptic “to be continued” footer, suggesting a follow up chapter from Timur to conclude this saga. Timur’s plunging vocals convey the depth of this scenario and her classic training gives her a James Bond resemblant flare for the dramatic song.

Following the release of "Not A Criminal", Timur wanted to release a music video for "Sabotage" that would interact with her previous work and serve as a part two for her original idea. Malaysian Swiss artist Timur began her career in the arts at an early age, studying ballet and an array of musical instruments such as the piano, ukulele, and saxophone. Now signed to Malaysian record label KRU Music, she has collaborated with Gustav Efraimsson who is known for his work with Monsta X/NKOTBSB. Watch Timur's new video for "Sabotage" here for a colorful and exciting story on the dramatics that exist in young love.
