Sometimes the best things in life are unplanned, and “1440” is a testament to that philosophy. Spearheaded by Public Records, “1440” is the second single from the series Public Goods featuring the buttery smooth vocals of Toronto-based R&B artists Adria Kain and Mighloe over production from Lord Quest. “1440” captures the essence of two worlds serendipitously colliding in a way only the universe could have aligned.
The second single from Public Goods, “1440” is an artful R&B meets soft rock cocktail with two artists who have been pillars in the queer R&B scene in Toronto. A juxtaposition of two sonic auras that mesh in perfect harmony, Kain’s polished timbre acutely complements Mighloe’s petal-soft, hypnotic vocals. With perfect chemistry, the pair detail: “In 6 hours we created this beauty. 1440 speaks to a new beginning, one which brings two people together, who despite what anyone else has to say, are down for each other.”
That same magical aura is equally translated in the music video, co-directed by Ashley Iris Gill and Jamal Vickers. With perfect synergy, the pair lock eyes while shopping at a botanical store, bashfully catching each other's attention. With a paint palette of muted greens, it captures a natural type of love that only be found, not fabricated.
