Fran Vasilić drops new visuals for "Maybe" from new EP 'The Very Last Thoughts on Earth'

Croatian indie-pop artist Fran Vasilić just released his new video "Maybe", which appears on his new EP The Very Last Thoughts on Earth. The artist, known for his fantastical melodies, raw storytelling, and rich distinctive vocals, writes relatable music that helps his listeners feel less alone.

On "Maybe", Vasilić narrates feelings of uncertainty, doubt, and not being in control of what's happening in life. Whenever we attach expectations to an outcome of a situation, it can lead to disappointment, which can ultimately cause someone to question their own decisions, or become indecisive as a result.

Featuring Vasilić's signature vocals atop a lighthearted, sunny melody, the song has an optimistic tone, despite the underlying message. Lyrics such as "Here's my promise / To myself and whoever is bothered / By the fact that I don't know how to say "yes" or "no" / That I need control and that I cannot just let it go," elaborate this ongoing struggle, sharing Vasilić's innermost feelings and fears about the situation, and why he responds the way he does.

The accompanying video shows Vasilić bouncing around in the Metaverse, a concept that perfectly depicts the nature of the song. Life is like a video game at times, and we never know what will come next. Colorful, creative, and laced with bits of comedy, the visuals show that Vasilić can laugh about his situation rather than take life too seriously.

Fran Vasilić has a talent for connecting with his audience through his vivid, honest approach to his art. Drawing inspiration from artists such as The Strokes, The Black Keys, Gus Dapperton, and Rex Orange County, he blends elements of indie rock, pop and electro for a wondrous musical experience. Vasilić’s debut album, Retrovizor, attracted a global fanbase and industry attention, an album where he transformed his pain into a meaningful project during the long COVID quarantine. "Maybe" is from his new EP "The Very Last Thoughts on Earth", which is about finding your purpose and navigating through the ever-changing game of life as a young adult.
