NY emcee donSMITH is not new to EARMILK, and he recently put out his EP In Loving Memory under EMPIRE. He now he returns with the visuals for the song "Long Time Coming". The record was produced by Cali native LIM0, who utilizes a guitar sample riff and pitched vocal sample record to create a soulful and somewhat reflective backdrop for donSMITH to wax poetic about his journey in the game. In true fashion, the rapper takes us deep into the mix of the action, from urban decay, finding silver linings underneath dark clouds to reaching the heights of success, he gives us a broad sense of life, as a black man trying to survive by any means. He is joined by Toronto's own Asun Eastwood who gives his own experiences in HD. From living off scraps, to getting shot and almost losing his life, he questions why God left him, but soon realized that everything was meant to be.
As for the video, Canadian director Alison Beland does a brilliant job in bringing the duo's stories to life with a mix of performance shots, subtle visual effects, and set pieces that illustrates the theme of the track itself.
"Long Time Coming" is the third visual from donSMITH’s EMPIRE debut EP In Loving Memory.
