London-born, Los Angeles-based singer/ songwriter and actress Jenny JAM has just shared her latest riveting single. Entitled "My Letter To You", the song and accompanying music video follow her soul-drenched love song "Our Love is Sweet Forever", shared earlier this year.
"My Letter To You" is based on the true and auto-biographical story of a hurtful letter sent to Jenny by her father right before he passed away from lung cancer in 2014. With lyrics including "your hateful words said that day / dark my soul in every way / won't forget our last embrace / pain of disease printed on your face," she is tainted by the painful memories of her last encounter with her father. His final interaction with her is troubling and gut wrenching and she channels this hurt in the best way she knows possible, by creating everlasting raw art.
Musically, "My Letter To You" features melancholy rich piano chords, haunting vocals and lush decadent melodies for an intoxicating musical blend. She seamlessly blends pop, rock and soul with nostalgic hints while at the same time creating music that feels timeless. In the adjoining music video, she is shown taking the same journey the letter she wrote to her father took, when she sent it. Going from Los Angeles all the way to Florida, JAM's journey was marked by intense struggle, and ultimate strength in dealing with the loss.
Jenny JAM started singing at a young age influenced by blues and Jazz greats as well as 60's rock groups including The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones. Her own music is a cathartic release for the artist and is often inspired by overcoming traumatic events and coming out the other side a better person. Take a listen to "My Letter To You" now and follow Jenny JAM's poignant journey.
