Chicago-based multi-genre artist Umraan Syed has returned with an R&B infused single titled "D I F F E R E N T", which sees him teaming up with singer/songwriter Zacc P. The track has a smooth, somewhat recognizable sample that exudes an 80s aesthetic with a modern-day feel. From the layered textures, soft drum grooves, and overall reflective vibe, Umraan takes charge with his characteristic laidback flow and delivers a convincing note to his lover on how he is different from the rest of the pack. He also doesn't mince his words and he cuts to the chase, elucidating the things he'd love to do to her. Zacc P also comes through with a nice melodic performance, his hook is catchy and the songwriting is well crafted too.
Umraan Syed is not new to EARMILK and caught our ears some years ago with his self-produced reflective single "Ya Gotta Move". His style is quite eclectic as he is influenced by a wide range of music and genres from different eras. From the legendary British rock group The Cure, hip-hop's finest lyricist Yasin Bey, or even America's first lady of country music Tammy Wynette, Syed dives into whatever gives him inspiration.
