Chase Plato is an up-and-coming rapper, producer, and songwriter based out of Detroit who has been making waves with his debut single "RIP Kobe" released back in February. The 19-year old upstart has been steadily developing his sound alongside with Assemble Sound (Sam Austins, Jax Anderson, Whiterosemoxie) in Detroit, and has been able to hone in on a really unique blend of hip-hop, hyper-pop, and indie rock paired with highly inventive visuals.
His latest single “ICE CREAM MAN” is a boisterous hip-hop and alt-rock banger that is heavily inspired by early aughts era Neptunes / N.E.R.D in terms of energy & sonics. The rowdy (self-produced) instrumental is accentuated by a heavenly vocal hook from Ari Griffin and a central heavy guitar-riff provided by Jacob Sigman, which Chase uses to skillfully call out his haters & naysayers. Co-Directed by frequent collaborator Victor Grisson, the video is a frantic BAPE, BBC, and Ice Cream clothing filled visual feast that perfectly encapsulates the energy of the song.
