Born and raised by parents in the film industry, Gali Givon is no stranger to the creative arts. The Israeli rock artist was raised on several classic rock bands including Queen and Pink Floyd. It was these early experiences that influenced Givon's musical upbringing, serving as an outlet of expression and emotion. After getting a bit older, she swayed towards heavier rock genres like metal and grunge, elements of which shaped her current sound.
Fast forward to today, Givon's new debut single 'Show Me Love' gives us a glimpse into her sonic direction and style as a young rock artist. Though only her first official release, the track features a mature, refined feel while still maintaining a gritty presence.
Instrumentally, 'Show Me Love' combines elements of classical Middle Eastern melodies with industrial rock. The hard-hitting guitar chords topped with Givon's alluring yet energetic vocals make for a perfectly unique rock track.
Though on the surface, it may seem like Givon's style echoes that of Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo, she also features classic rock pieces similar to that of Led Zeppelin and Pantera. With this, she maintains her own style while providing easily accessible rock jams which could easily be found on the radio.
Givon also gave some insight into her inspiration and influence in getting started with music. "My dad used to go in and out of hospital, so I’d spend a lot of time at home, alone,” she says. “I remember the silence being so loud… I had to fill it up with something louder. I needed something to fall into, and rock music was what caught me."
